Summer Waterfall Adventures – Part 1

It has been an absolutely beautiful and relaxing summer thus far. It has been extremely hot, as it is right now as I write this in the backyard, with periodic episodes of heavy rain. The rain has ensured that our waterfall adventures will be fruitful as it was the other day when we visited Tiffany Falls and Sherman Falls. Both falls were running beautifully – not like last year when Balls Falls was dried right up after a summer of virtually no rain.

Waterfalls Visited:

  • Tiffany Falls
  • Sherman Falls

We didn’t do a lot of hiking last year due to Tito having a broken leg and needing close supervision. Tanit’s last real waterfall adventure happened a couple years ago when she was quite small so this is her first year to truly appreciate them. Tiffany and Sherman were great falls to start with as they are both a good size and the walk in relatively short (Tanit complains sometimes that her legs are tired so we’re starting with small hikes here in the beginning).

We were going to check out a few more today but I ended up with a bit of a headache so we’ll head out tomorrow. We’re thinking of continuing the Ancaster / Dundas stretch by visiting:

  • Canterbury Falls
  • Hermitage
  • Mineral springs

…and maybe a few others along the way depending on how well we do and how easy the falls are to find.

Here is the route we’re planning…
